The Year of a Showgirl - October - Cancelled

Poppets, it’s a new year — and this year we’ll be exploring the legend that is Taylor Swift’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl.

With only three official music video, this club becomes my version of the album — what I see, feel, and imagine when the music plays.

Inspired by Taylor Swift’s Cancelled!, this colour way
is about finding out who your real friends are when the whole world has decided you’re the problem.

It’s about scandal, public judgment and that very particular experience of watching everyone suddenly have an opinion about someone they’ve never actually met. But once you’ve been through it yourself, you see things a little differently. You know what it feels like to be judged, picked apart and written off, and you learn not to let the crowd make your decisions for you.

There’s something almost wickedly fun about the song, too. It isn’t a sad little tale of being cancelled. It’s embracing the scandal, laughing at the chaos and standing beside the people who have been through their own version of it.

Each month, I’ll share a collage inspired by that month’s song. The yarn colours are pulled directly from this image — translating feeling into fibre.
