Fairies of the Wayside - January - The Red Clover Fairy

🌸 Welcome to the Flower Fairy Club 2026 🌸

Inspired by the timeless Flower Fairies illustrated by Cicely Mary Barker — images that shaped my childhood and quietly followed me into adulthood. Long afternoons playing fairies in the garden turned into a lifelong love of colour, detail, and small, magical worlds. This club lives right there.

Each month begins with colour.

I choose one Flower Fairy illustration — mostly from Fairies of the Garden — and build a palette directly from it. Every shade is intentional, drawn from the fairy’s world and translated into yarn and fibre.

January’s fairy is the Red Clover Fairy

How the club works

Each month, I share a collage first. The yarn colours are pulled directly from that image — no randomness, no filler, just intentional palettes dyed into yarn.

You can join however suits you:

• Pay as you go — pick the months you love

• Subscription — small discount (rolling monthly, or 3/6/12 months)

Choose your club format:

1. Single Skein — 100g dyed to the month’s palette
2. Sock Set — 100g skein with a coordinating 20g mini
3. Mini Set — 5 × 20g minis, a mix of semi-solids and speckles inspired by the collage
4. Fibre Braid — 100g hand-dyed fibre braid to match the main skein

Full Club

The full club includes:

• Your chosen yarn

• A postcard featuring the illustration

• A themed sticker

• A Stitch Marker inspired by the Fairy illustration

• Sock: 100g / 425m / 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon
• Sparkle Sock: 100g / 425m / 70% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon, 10% Stellina

DK / Double Knit Yarn
• DK: 100g / 225m / 100% Superwash Merino
• Sparkle DK: 100g / 200m / 70% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon, 10% Stellina

Aran Weight
• 100g / 166m / 100% Superwash Merino

Chunky Yarn
• Chunky: 100g / 70m / 100% Superwash Merino

All yarn is hand-dyed in small batches (4 skeins at a time). No two skeins are identical — think sisters, not twins. For larger projects, alternating skeins is recommended.

🌸 Care

Superwash Merino — machine washable on a gentle wool cycle.

For best results (and longevity), handwash with wool-safe detergent and air-dry.

• Dye results vary by base (sparkle has a grey base; others may appear softer or more pastel)
